Peerless Battle Spirit

Chapter 1008 – The Departed Soul of the Ancient Well

Chapter 1008 - The Departed Soul of the Ancient Well

“I’ve been too careless. They’re treating me like an ant that they can kill with a single thought, thus allowing them to strike whenever they feel like it. It seems like my plan to hide my true strength until the very end isn’t going too well!”

Qin Nan withdrew his murderous intent.

“It’s fine too, I can advance at my own pace and give them a surprise attack later.”

Qin Nan made up his mind.

In a situation like this, nothing else really mattered, as everyone was competing with one another with brute force. Only the strongest person would survive until the end.

If you were unable to match the strength of the others, it was better to withdraw from it as early as possible.

“According to the scroll, the Soul-Hooking Pond is able to hook one’s soul from their body. However, I might be able to resist it with my current strength!”

Qin Nan immediately headed to the serene-blue pond.

Even though he was not absolutely confident in himself, it was worth taking the risk.

Howl…

At that instant, a frightening shriek could be heard coming from the pond. Qin Nan’s figure shuddered as it felt like an invisible force had grabbed his soul and Martial Spirit and was dragging them downward, falling into the endless void.

“Suppression of the golden seal!

“Might of the Divine God of Battle!”

Qin Nan groaned.

The golden seal and the Divine Battle Spirit were activated.

BANG!

Following a soft explosion on the surface of the pond, the invisible force was blown away, no longer bringing any harm to Qin Nan.

“It worked.”

Qin Nan let out a relieved sigh as he followed the flow of the water.

He purposely slowed down his pace.

A while later, Qin Nan saw an ancient boat stopped ahead of him, followed by a path covered in darkness. Even the vision of his left eye was restricted, preventing him from seeing a great distance.

“Mm? There’s a door here?” As Qin Nan was about to move forward, he quickly scanned around and caught a glimpse of a hidden door under the water, which was difficult to be discovered as there was no presence of energy from it.

“Let’s take a look.”

Qin Nan approached the door.

He had learned that everything extraordinary in this ancient tomb only existed for a reason. The experts whose cultivations had reached a certain level would have their own way of setting up the place.

“This door is very heavy, it’s made of some incredible material. It’s unlikely that I’d be able to break it open with my current strength…”

Qin Nan took a closer look at the patterns on the door.

If he could not break it open with brute force, there must be some clues from the patterns.

“There are two holes here. Could they be related to the spheres I found on the female’s statue?” Qin Nan discovered two hidden sockets and placed the blue spheres into them.

As he thought, the size fit perfectly.

Squeak.

A few moments later, the giant door slowly opened. As a five inch gap was revealed, the door was knocked open instantly by a terrifying impact, as a thick black mist burst out like a tide.

Even the Soul-Hooking Pond began to vibrate vigorously as if it were scared of the black mist.

“Crap!” Qin Nan was astounded. In the nick of time, he immediately activated the golden seal to protect himself as his figure was devoured by the black mist.

At that instant, he felt like he had turned into a raft on a furious ocean, which would be devoured by the angry waves at any moment.

Luckily, the golden seal was extremely powerful. The golden glow did not break at all.

A few hundred breaths’ later, the black mist finally dissipated, allowing Qin Nan to utter a sigh of relief. He withdrew the golden seal and glanced toward the door.

It was a path made of crimson-red mud, with footsteps scattered around, as if many people had been there before.

Qin Nan scanned with his left eye before he followed the path.

His figure was tense throughout the whole process, not willing to put his guard down.

Wu…Ah…Wu…Ah…

Qin Nan had lost track of the time as he heard a soft voice coming from ahead. It was someone singing, which kept on repeating the same notes.

As he ventured deeper, the singing became clearer.

For some reason, Qin Nan felt his heart sinking, with a hint of sadness.

“Such terrifying singing.” Qin Nan’s heart shuddered as he collected his thoughts.

His Martial Heart had reached a certain sturdiness throughout his cultivation journey and the baptism of the suppression of the Divine God of Battle. Even the challenges of the Undying Martial Monarch were unable to influence it, but it was now affected by the singing.

At last, the singing halted, causing the surroundings to fall silent.

Qin Nan paused for a brief while before he continued moving forward. After a few more steps, the darkness began to clear as he had reached the end of the path.

In front of him was a desert.

“Isn’t this desert the one I saw in the last drawing?” Qin Nan frowned as he checked his surroundings and could only see an ancient well.

Thump.

A pitch-black hand reached out from the well and grabbed the edge.

Qin Nan’s eyes flickered as he unleashed a saber intent with his right hand.

Whoosh.

A figure leapt out from the well.

The figure had a strange appearance, entirely black in color as if it were stained by ink.

“May I ask…who senior is?” Qin Nan asked in a probing manner.

“Me?” The person pondered before answering, “I think I’m the owner of the tomb.”

“Owner? The half-Martial God Realm expert?” Qin Nan was startled.

“Half-Martial God Realm expert? No no no, I’m just a failure.” The pitch-black man shook his hand.

“A failure?”

Qin Nan was stunned.

“Yes, a failure.” The man smilingly said, “Didn’t you see the drawings? The one that brought many experts to kill me, she was my companion, the woman whom I was in love with for three hundred and sixty-seven years.”

The smile did not show any hint of self-mockery.

“Senior…were you betrayed?” Qin Nan asked curiously.

He had been curious when he had seen the drawings in the first-floor, but he did not expect this to be the case.

“Yeah, betrayed.” The man suddenly asked, “Were you betrayed by your companion before?”

“Senior, I don’t have one.” Qin Nan said.

“Impossible, you surely have one.” The eyes of the man flickered, “If you didn’t you wouldn’t be able to enter this place. Oh, maybe you’re in love with her, but she’s not your companion yet. I completely forgot about that, is that the case?”

“Senior, I’m sorry. It was not too difficult to find this place, to be honest. I found two spheres from the statue in the first-floor, and discovered this door under the Soul-Hooking Pond, and ended up here after surviving the black mist…”

Qin Nan said calmly.

However, before he could finish, the man interrupted, “You’re wrong, those were just some simple tricks I’d set up. See this well? I’ve modeled it after the Well of Love. If you didn’t have a beloved woman, you wouldn’t be able to stay within a thousand li of it.”

The man stared at Qin Nan with a look of interest, “I’m sure that you have someone beloved, but maybe you’re not aware of it yet. Why don’t you take a look into the well? You will see her face on the surface of the water.”
